Read The Thingamajig Book of Manners
Discuss the importance of being respectful. Draw an “R” on the paper. The “R” represents respect. Discuss what respect looks like. Ask a volunteer to come cover the “R” with toothpaste, demonstrating that we are going to freshen our words (fresh breath=speaking good kindwords). Tell the student you’ve made a mistake and the “R” actually stands for rude. Tell them to try to put the toothpaste back into the tube. Demonstrate that it is impossible to take back unkind or rude words after we have said them. Discuss ways to show respect (manners, apologize etc.)

Put the class into groups and give each group a picture with a problem. “Listen Carefully!” worksheet / “Following Written Instructions” worksheet Introduce the Listening worksheet as a test & students must listen to the instructions carefully & do their best. Read the questions one by one. Students grade their own papers. Talk about the importance of listening to instructions/ask what they learned. Give “Following Written Instructions” worksheet & check answers. |

HABIT 6:
Read Chubbo’s Pool by Betsy Lewin Discuss team work/cooperation. Give Cooperation Quilt worksheet. Use red to color examples of cooperation, and blue to color examples of not. Balloon bounce- students get in a circle & try to keep the balloon in the air & in the circle without moving their feet. Count how many times each team’s balloon falls on the ground, or goes out of bounds, or someone moves their feet. The group with the least amount of mistakes wins. Point out how well students worked as a team/did not work as a team. |
